Mobile terminals for police officers
The Main Police Headquarters is going to equip foot patrols with mobile terminals enabling police officers direct access to the Police National Information System. The project is carried out by consortium led by Sygnity SA. The project will be carried out by mid-February 2008. The value of the contracts amounts to almost PLN 34 million gross.

The consortium consisting of Sygnity SA and WINUEL SA has signed a contract with the Main Police Headquarters in Warsaw for provision and installation of 4067 Carried Mobile Terminals (Polish: MTN) together with accessories and data transmission service. The project will be carried out by mid-February 2008.
The devices are designed to use the open part of the IT systems accessible via the Police Data Transmission System (Polish: PSTD), which includes the Police National Information System (Polish: KSIP).
A terminal is a computer equipped with a WWW browser, which uses GSM operator services, and which software complies with Microsoft Windows standards. The device enables wireless communication of a KSIP patrol in order to verify data, of e.g. persons and vehicles. The terminals will use GPRS and EDGE data transmission systems, available all over the country. MTNs will be used by foot patrols.
Apart from the devices, the consortium will also provide data transmission service in GPRS/EDGE technology on the basis of dedicated APN connected with the Ordering Party’s network together with provision and activation of SIM cards for mobile terminals, user authentication and authorisation system on the basis of SIM cards. The consortium will create technical and functional documentation for terminals as well as conduct training for police officers.

In 2007, the consortium led by WINUEL SA implemented 2200 Car Mobile Terminals (Polish: MTP) and 1500 Carried Mobile Terminals (Polish: MTN) for police officers.
